A new Game of Thrones strategy game from PlaySide Studios has been announced at Summer Game Fest 2025.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros will pit characters and factions from the HBO series against each other, with the promise that certain choices can lead to alternate scenarios separate from the events of the series.
The trailer showed off some characters from the HBO series, including Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and the Night King.

The trailer ends with Night King clapping Snow, indicating an alternate ending for the story.
The official description reads: “In Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, chaos reigns in ruthless free-for-all battles where trust is fleeting and power is everything. Command in epic real-time strategy battles, forge strategic alliances, or weave deceit against your rivals."
“Conquer the Seven Kingdoms solo, or in treacherous free-for-all multiplayer. Command the Great Houses, rally iconic heroes, and rewrite the fate of the realm. Do you have the strength to seize the Iron Throne?”
The game will feature the houses Stark, Lannister and Targaryen as factions, along with the undead White Walkers. You'll be able to take charge as any of these banners and change the fate of Westeros.

You can deploy infantry, cavalry, siege engines, and even dragons and giants to defeat your opponents.
Hopefully, PlaySide will find a decent way to balance all these units, because it sounds like a terrific one for Game of Thrones fans.
You'll be able to play along in solo, or against friends in online multiplayer. So we reckon this'll be a good reason to get your Game of Thrones watch party pals back together again.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is planned to release in 2026, but there's no release date confirmed yet. At the moment it's just getting a Steam release, but we'll wait and see if console versions are announced too.
