A few years ago, our cosy game obsession was Animal Crossing: New Horizons whereas this year, it’s Pokémon Pokopia. For the ultimate cosy gamers who’ve completed both, this is your next adventure.
You really can’t underestimate a good cosy game. Pokémon Pokopia went toe-to-toe with Crimson Desert last month which is even more impressive than it sounds, considering the latter was available on more consoles.
Gamers have spent hours of their life crafting gorgeous landscapes, focusing on every minor detail until it’s absolutely perfect.
If you’re ready for your next challenge, the game below is one for you and it’s free-to-play on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2.
Since its launch in 2024, the cosy multiplayer life-sim Palia has blossomed into something truly special.

With over 24,000 reviews on Steam, it’s sitting pretty on a Very Positive rating, and HowLongToBeat reckons a save file can last for over 100 hours before you start running out of things to do.
Whether you’re playing alone or with friends, Palia sets players loose in an open-world filled with magic and mystery, and of course plenty of farming.
You can build and expand your house with a wide-variety of decor and create a garden that’d leave even the greenest of thumbs jealous.

If you find farming and interior decorating boring though, fear not, as Palia has its fair share of combat as well.
It’s not comparable to Crimson Desert, of course, but setting out into the open-world, fighting various creatures and collecting materials can be good fun especially in a group.
We know what you’re really here for. Yes, Palia does have a fishing minigame. All the good games have a fishing minigame.
As we said before, Palia is free on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.
That’s not a demo or a taster session either, it's the full game ready to go as soon as you’ve downloaded it.
However, given its free-to-play nature there are a few microtransactions to consider but don’t worry as no content is locked behind them. They’re purely for those who either enjoy the game and want a bit more or those who want a headstart on their first playthrough.
The Starter Set and Founder Set will kickstart your playthrough with bonus in-game currency to spend in addition to some outfits and islands to get you properly started.
Again, you don’t need these; they're just a way of saving time in the early hours of your playthrough.
With the next Animal Crossing game likely years away and Pokémon Pokopia playthroughs slowly coming to an end, don’t sleep on Palia. It might just be your next cosy game obsession.
