Well, the rumour may be true after all. Fortnite could soon be getting a brand new first-person mode if this latest leaked footage is anything to go by - which I’m almost certain is news that will excite many.

Fortnite is, of course, well known for being a third-person battle royale. That being said, I’m surprised they haven’t added a first-person mode over the years - particularly as it’s something that’s been so heavily requested by fans. Perhaps Fortnite wanted to separate itself from Warzone and Overwatch. That could all soon be changing though as test footage of the rumoured first-person mode has seemingly leaked online.

We were major fans of the Fortnite x Dragon Ball crossover.

Twitter dataminer AyeTSG (Via user ShiinaBR) made the discovery. ShiinaBR wrote, “In today’s update, Epic Games has added new files for a first-person mode in Battle Royale. Thanks to AyeTSG for making me aware of this.” Account ModernWarzone then shared footage of the first-person mode in action - and it all looks very legit. It goes without saying though, do take this with a pinch of salt until anything is officially confirmed by Epic Games.

It’s long been suspected that perhaps Fortnite isn’t so keen on a first-person mode as it might lead to a decrease in skins sales. Fans seem very excited about the idea though. SigShiesty99 wrote, “This actually might be game changing,” while nobitaszn added, “Can’t wait to try it.” Some expressed concern over the loss of third-person but I’d imagine Fortnite would allow you to choose between the two modes.

It goes without saying, just because the file was added during the update, it doesn’t always mean that it’ll end up in the final public build. Stay tuned.
