Fortnite becomes unplayable for millions as port is taken offline

A sad day

Fortnite is just as popular as ever thanks to a new Star Wars-inspired season of content, but there’s a major problem.

Players who primarily experience the game on mobile devices, specifically iOS, are unable to play around the world due to Apple’s interference.

Check out the trailer for the new Star Wars Fortnite season below.

Epic Games came out with a statement yesterday saying Apple has interfered with a new mobile port of the game, prompting the entire thing to get shut down.

The statement read: “Apple has blocked our Fortnite submission so we cannot release to the US App Store or to the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it.”

As you can imagine, fans are livid and have expressed disappointment with Apple online, wondering when the issue will be resolved.

It’s not the only problem Fortnite is experiencing either, as an additional update for the Star Wars season was delayed from its planned 15 May release date to today, 16 May instead.

Reasons for this are unknown but it could have something to do with the iOS situation; either way, it’s another annoyance for fans who just want to play and enjoy the game.

Don’t let all that take away from the fact that this season of Fortnite is arguably one of the best it's ever received, potentially even better than the Marvel collaborations it’s had before.

The new season brings back the lightsaber and force abilities from previous seasons, X-Wings and TIE Fighters as well as plenty of new skins from the Star Wars galaxy.

It’ll also feature some impressive events, like one where players will seemingly need to blow up the Death Star that’s looming over the island.
