Female Characters ‘Censored’ in Classic Anime Soulslike, Stellar Blade Comparisons Drawn

Looks just as lewd to me as it did before, but sure

Some fans aren’t too happy with the latest sequel to a much-beloved 2019 anime Soulslike, because, apparently, one of the more lewd designs in the game has been censored.

I say “apparently” because, to me, the new design looks just as lewd as it did before. Either I’m not gooning hard enough to notice a difference, or this is a bit of an over-exaggeration on behalf of the fanbase.

Code Vein II, developed and published by Bandai Namco, is set to drop on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles and Steam in a few days, but if you’re super desperate to get your hands on it right now, you can play it early by purchasing either the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of the game.

The special editions also come with a bunch of extra pre-order goodies, like, for instance, the “Code Vein Character Costume Set.”

This is a collection of six extra costumes inspired by designs from the original Code Vein, and you can only get it if you purchase the £84.99 Ultimate Edition of Code Vein II.

One of the costumes in the set is based on the same outfit worn by the character Io, who fans of the original game may remember as the lady with the boob window outfit.

She also seems to be a fan-favourite character, which I’m sure has nothing to do with her revealing outfit.

Well, a few reviewers who purchased the Ultimate Edition of the game on Steam believe that Io’s special pre-order outfit in the new game has been, and I quote, “nerfed.”

"They spent more effort putting pants on Io than they spent making sure Jacks coat still realistically flowed."

Here’s the thing, though. I’ve been staring at every picture of this outfit that I can find (can’t believe I get paid to do this) and I genuinely have no idea what they’re on about.

It looks just as horny as ever to me?

Admittedly, the official pictures online aren’t the best quality, but (thankfully?) someone has uploaded a video of the costume set online.

Seriously, can anyone explain what I’m not seeing that all the gooners are mad about?

Boob window, check.

Open side boob flaps, check.

Borderline non-existent skirt, check.

I don’t know, folks. Maybe I’m just losing touch with what the common gamer wants these days.

Perhaps that skirt is actually 0.1 millimetres shorter, and I’m just being a terrible gaming journalist.

But hey, if that’s the case, I’m sure a mod will be out in five seconds to make it look even shorter than it did before.
