Far Cry 7 is just one of the many sequels that fans are desperate for but with Ubisoft keeping details close to its chest, we are having to rely on insider leaks to keep the hype going.
Kicking off back in 2004 and now consisting of over six mainline entries, Far Cry has been a hit Ubisoft first-person shooter series for way over two decades.
However, with its latest mainline entry, Far Cry 6, not being met with the best reviews, fans are eager to see Ubisoft return to a tried-and-tested formula with Far Cry 7.
However, with Far Cry 7 not even having been officially announced, we can assume that the project is still in the very early stages of development and we may not see it released for quite some time.

That being said, according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, we may actually be pleasantly surprised by its release date.
According to a report by Henderson, Ubisoft has big plans for 2026-2027 with multiple releases on the docket.
As well as a new mainline Ghost Recon title, a new Assassin’s Creed entry known as Project Hexe, a Splinter Cell remake and many more, the reporter believes that the next mainline Far Cry game, known as Project Blackbird, will also release some time during 2026 to 2027.
Of course, this is merely a rumour so is worth taking with a pinch of salt and it is definitely optimistic considering Ubisoft is yet to announce Far Cry 7 at all yet.

Nevertheless, some fans are feeling hopeful and took to r/GamingLeaksandRumours to share their excitement.
“Oh holy fu*k yes, any crumb of anything Far Cry to feed me, please!!” User Bobjoejj wrote.
After [Far Cry 6] being what it was, I’m really hoping 7 can come out and really kick ass.”
However, another user was feeling more hesitant.

“The silence for the new Far Cry is unsettling…,” they shared.
It remains to be seen if Henderson’s report will come true but for now, Far Cry 7 seems like it will not be around anytime soon.
