A potential adaptation of the Fallout series has been in the works for years - and by years, I mean almost as long as I’ve been alive. Our tale takes us back to 1998 when Interplay Films announced their intention to make a Fallout film, but the feature later got stuck in development hell for almost a decade.

Next up, Bethesda Softworks outlined their own plans for a Fallout film in 2009 but again, nothing came to fruition. Which brings us to July 2020 when Amazon Prime Video announced that they’d be making a Fallout TV series. Two years on from that announcement, it looks like filming will finally kick off this summer.

One dedicated Fallout 4 fan decided to build a replica Gauss Rifle. Take a look at the intricate build below.

The Cosmic Circus recently spotted a casting call seeking stunt performers to work on an Amazon Prime Video project this June in New York City. The project was codenamed Hondo and whilst we can’t say for certain that this is Fallout, it does fit with Amazon previously announcing that filming would commence this year.

Video game adaptations haven’t always had the best reputation, but that does seem to be steadily changing. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 recently became the most successful video game adaptation of all time, and set videos of HBO’s take on The Last of Us look very faithful to the source material.

The Fallout TV series will be headed up by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan who you may recognise as the showrunners of the incredible Westworld on HBO, so clearly Joy and Nolan know what they’re doing when it comes to complex storytelling, which bodes well.

Todd Howard, director of several entries of the Fallout game series, will executive produce the TV show and direct the pilot. So far, actors Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell have been cast. We don’t yet know which of the franchise's storylines the show will follow, but at least a Fallout adaptation is finally set to see the light of day.
