To celebrate the arrival of Fallout Season 2, one hit Bethesda title is free to play on both PlayStation and Xbox for a limited time.

Yesterday saw the premiere of Prime Video’s Fallout Season 2 with the hit television show continuing the story of Lucy, The Ghoul and co. as they embark on a journey towards New Vegas following the events of Season 1.

First airing back in 2024 and based on the video game franchise by Bethesda, Fallout was an instant success, receiving rave reviews for its performances, writing, visuals, and production design. As a result, a second season was immediately snapped up and even before the launch of Season 2, a third season received the greenlight.

Since its arrival on Prime Video, Fallout has received three Emmy award nominations for both Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Walter Goggins who takes on the role of The Ghoul.

Now Fallout is back with the first episode of Season 2 arriving on 16 December.

To celebrate the premiere, Bethesda has announced that it will be making Fallout 76 free for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users for a limited time.

Available from 16 December through to 23 December, the multiplayer Fallout title is perfect for both seasoned Vault Dwellers and those stepping out into the wastelands for the first time by offering the chance to team up with friends so you do not have to tackle the irradiated threats alone.

What the Free Fallout 76 Download Includes

Not only that but with Fallout 76 just welcoming its latest update titled ‘Burning Springs’, this is the perfect time to dive in, especially with Goggins himself making a surprise cameo.

To download the free title, simply head to the PlayStation or Xbox Store and grab Fallout 76 at absolutely no cost.

This will include full access to Fallout 76 and all of its content updates, the chance to explore Appalachia, build your dream C.A.M.P., and team up with friends, and the ability to keep all of your saved data after the event.

When asked why it is making Fallout 76 free for a limited time, Bethesda said: "Season 2 of the Fallout TV series is here, and this Free Play Week is your chance to experience the world that inspired it.

“Discover iconic locations, meet the community, and create your own story in the Wasteland. Go beyond the show and learn more about the links between Season 1 and the games here.

“Don’t miss this chance to wander, scavenge, and thrive. The Wasteland is calling. Answer it today.”

So whether you are a seasoned Fallout fan or just want an excuse to check out the games after falling in love with the television show, make sure you take advantage of this Free Play week.
