It seems as though gamers live their lives waiting for a sequel to some of their favourite games.
From Fallout to The Elder Scrolls, Hollow Knight to Bloodborne, so many sequels, so little updates.
However, according to a recent rumour, one much-loved FPS series is about to receive news on a highly-anticipated sequel which leaves titles such as Fallout 5 in the dust.
We are talking about the Metro franchise, an FPS series which received its most recent mainline entry back in 2019 with the arrival of Metro Exodus.

Of course, players got to experience the spin-off VR title, Metro Awakening, back in 2024 but it has been quite some time since we received a mainline release.
Although we are aware that 4A Games is currently working on a Metro title, we know next to nothing about it but new posts by the studio hint that an official announcement is on the way.
Spotted by Revendi over on r/metro, a new community manager has been hired by 4A Games and as a result, a lot more social media posts have been shared over recent weeks.
Not only that but this is all taking place just a month before Gamescom 2025 which is the one-stop-shop for brand new reveals and trailers.

“The 4A Games Twitter account has come back to life after hiring a new community manager,” the Reddit post reads.
“This comes a month before gamescom 2025. It's clearly no coincidence, but most likely a way to warm up the community ahead of some big news. Your thoughts?”
Additionally, a simple yet effective post was made to the official 4A Games account on 17 July reading: “New Metro”.
So could this all mean that we will receive an official trailer for the next Metro title as early as next month?

Only time will tell but this is a sequel you do not want to miss out on.
