Fallout fans are eager for any update from Bethesda as to when the next game in the series will arrive and hopefully, it might arrive sooner than we’d expect.

When it comes to post-apocalyptic RPGs, perhaps none do it better than Bethesda’s Fallout series. Mixed with immersive stories, vibrant open worlds, interesting characters and intriguing missions, there’s a lot to love about the Fallout series.

Check out the Fallout 4 trailer below!

Bethesda has confirmed that we’ll get Fallout 5 at some point, especially now following the success of the live-action series from Amazon with its second season’s production underway. However, we have no clue, at least officially, when Fallout 5 will be released.

The safest assumptions to make at this time are that Fallout 5 will be a next-gen title and it will release after The Elder Scrolls VI. Speaking of which, we still don’t have a release date for the next Elder Scrolls game despite it being revealed at E3 2018.

A report from Insider Gaming (via the Xbox Two podcast) claims that Microsoft wants Fallout 5 to be released sooner rather than later, which is all good, but that still doesn't give us a solid release date.

That being said, this shouldn't mean that Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks will be in a hurry to get Fallout 5 out the door. After all, they’d want the game to launch in the best state possible and if rushed, the chances of that happening would be drastically reduced.

It’s suggested on the Xbox Two podcast, featuring industry insider Jez Corden, that Fallout 5 could be released in 2028, the same year that season three of the Amazon live-action series is expected to arrive, but then 2030 is also thrown out there, a common speculated release year.

It’s also been speculated that if Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks want to release Fallout 5 sooner rather than later, assistance could be brought in to help the developers at Bethesda Game Studios. If this were the case, it would be the first outsourced game in the series since 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas.

We can only guess at this time but whenever Fallout 5 arrives, I just want the developers to take all the time they need to ensure that the RPG releases in the best possible state.

In the meantime, you can play the series from Fallout 3 with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost to keep busy.
