Fallout 5 plot theory has got us asking Bethesda to take note

Fans are ready to head to Chicago

When it comes to Fallout 5, we at least know that it is in development over at Bethesda but when it comes to anything more specific, we remain in the dark.

However, that has not stopped fans from coming together to brainstorm where the next Fallout entry could take us.

Beginning its lifespan way back in 1997, the Fallout franchise has become one of the cornerstones of gaming with the RPG series featuring six mainline entries at the time of writing.

Despite Fallout 76 being released back in 2018, it has been almost a decade since its last single-player entry, Fallout 4, was released so it is safe to say that fans are eager for Bethesda to release Fallout 5 in the future.

As mentioned, we do know that Fallout 5 is in development but with Bethesda also working on The Elder Scrolls VI and only just wrapping up development for Starfield, it makes sense that there has been quite a way between Fallout entries.

Nevertheless, Fallout 5 is on the way but one key feature that we are still unsure about is where it will be set.

In previous entries, Fallout has always been set in a nuclear war torn America and it seems as though the next entry will be no exception.

According to Bethesda’s Todd Howard, the main themes of the Fallout series are tied to America.

"My view is part of the Fallout schtick is on the Americana naivete, “ he shared this time last year, “and so, you know, it's okay to acknowledge some of those other areas but our plan is to predominantly keep it in the US.”

However, where exactly in America Fallout 5 will be set still remains a mystery.

Nevertheless, user Gullible-Lead5516 over on r/Fallout has their very own well-thought-out theory.

According to them, they would like a Chicago-based Fallout entry and goes on to explain, in great detail, what its map could entail alongside an image for reference.

“Think a blank-slate story and characters for the most part, with several different origin/prologues for PC choices (Like a Ghoul start, a Wastelander start, a Vault Dweller start, etc. -- I've got 9ish thought out, including also DLC-perfect Zetan & Mr. Handy ones),” they shared.

“Keep the story pretty open, basically a fight for control of Chicagoland -- but also there's a pandemic (MacCready's son's illness maybe) going around the area too.

Play through, join factions, help them take over. Stop the pandemic, or spread it further, or stop it by spreading another virus.”

With this much detail, it would be a crying shame for Bethesda to not be taking notes as it seems as though fellow fans are on board with the idea.

Hopefully Bethesda will share more information about Fallout 5 over the next year and who knows? That may even include a release date.
