The world of Fallout 4 is one of chaos and carnage, though the player can take things at their own pace in this apocalyptic wasteland.
While you can go out into the wastes and hunt down enemies, you could also take some time to build a settlement, creating a safe haven for yourself and others, for the first time in Fallout.
One player, who had taken a year off the game, decided to check back in and noodle about with their base, take in a few memories.

They soon dashed over to Reddit and stated, “I’m a little concerned.” Why? Well, because they logged into a hellish landscape. “There are corpses everywhere,” said InevitableCommon3421.
It helps if you know a bit more of the backstory here, apparently this player had let their 14-year-old brother play on the save file, and they obviously revelled in chaos.
The Redditor continued, “I load up my old save. The one I left off on at level 20. Now it’s at level 152. He has 55,000 caps. I have no idea what he did. This is no longer my Sole Survivor. This is some kind of wasteland god-emperor. I’m honestly worried. What did he do for all those levels?? What did he become?”
The best comment in reply has to be this one from Ludakyz, who said, “The first thing most teenage boys do when having access to an open world with guns in a game is commit as many war crimes as they can. I've seen it first hand with my teenage son and his friends.”

I can certainly attest to this. I was a teenager when the very first GTA launched, and I found far too much glee in murdering lines of Hare Krishna with my car.
This is a fact confirmed by many other replies, with one saying, “GTA 3 came out when I was 11. Can confirm.”
There’s something cathartic in video game violence and carnage, and it doesn’t stop as a teenager as this fan confirms - “As a 40-year-old man I still do this today. I can't wait for the cycle to continue with GTA 6.”
