In the last month alone, we've had more The Elder Scrolls VI news than in the past eight years following its announcement.
Much of this is thanks to new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who has assumed authority over Bethesda and demanded an answer to where the long-lost Elder Scrolls game is up to.
Unfortunately, this came at the expense of layoffs within the team, seemingly pushing the game down a scaled-back path.
Yet both Sharma and Bethesda executive Todd Howard have teased that the Skyrim successor is in a playable state and is gaining momentum towards a finish line.

Just this week, the Xbox CEO gave the best update yet, saying, "Live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls VI: ******** this morning.”
The studio even teased the game name, insinuated as an eight-letter code by Sharma's asterisked post, which has already been deciphered by what looks to be a Bethesda oopsie dropped inside the Starfield menu.
Yet there's still no date for when we can expect The Elder Scrolls VI, leaving fans in an extended period of limbo.
So, what do we do now? Well, aside from a cheeky Oblivion remastered update, there's a new project on the way that will be everything you need to tie yourself over to TES6.

Fan-made Daggerfall remake is on its way
Aptly named The Indie Scrolls, one devoted Elder Scrolls guru has been rebuilding a remake of the second game in the series: Daggerfall.
The 1994 title is one that very few modern-day gamers will have experienced, but it is held in high regard by the long-time fans of the franchise.
Having spent over four months creating the game from the ground up, The Indie Scrolls has shared a recent update that shows spell-casting combat in the quirky 3D universe, even testing out some fireballs on his pet chickens – a notorious crime punishable in Skyrim by having villagers take up arms against you. No poultry should be harmed in the making of this game.
Instead of a community uprising, though, the Daggerfall remake programmes nearby NPCs to flee at the sight of unwelcome fighting and magic.
Still, the mechanics have also been tested on a 'lizard man' (likely a funny codename for Argonians), with each update looking increasingly better.
The pixel art animator and designer took to X to say, "Since TES 6 is coming forever to come out, I’ve been working on a project inspired by TES but in a Daggerfall visual key and this is my first gameplay showcase.
"The idea is to make a modern and updated RPG gameplay, but with classic graphics."
We're all tired and bored waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI, so why not enjoy a classic pixelated Daggerfall remake? And you can be sure it'll arrive before Bethesda pulls the trigger (or Sharma rips the code out and releases it herself).
