Bethesda have just revealed that they’re going to be making a big announcement (or several big announcements) at the end of August, and fans are immediately assuming that could mean only one thing: The Elder Scrolls VI news.
As announced on the official Bethesda Twitter account, the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls publisher will be returning to Gamescom as part of the Xbox Gamescom line-up on August 20 to August 24.
So, what does the r/TESVI subreddit think of this news? Surely they’re being super level headed and restrained about it all, right?

Well, that’s half right. Half of the folks are climbing up the walls and think that this could mean that we’re finally getting a trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI, but the other half is being a bit more realistic about things.
“Prob starfield and the PS announcement I'd assume”, replied user emteedub.
“We can only hope on ES6 news. I'm still Q4 2026 gang.”
“Bethesda (publisher) not Bethesda the games studio. This will be more games like doom Dishonored and prey and not starfield or TES”, replied user N00BAL0T.

“Also has everyone literally forgotten about the leaked Microsoft x Activision documents. There is no starfield content scheduled to come out until after TES 6.”
Personally, I think it’s good to have low expectations about what might be present… but don’t lose all hope.
While that last comment is indeed correct, as the Gamescom presentation could feature all of Bethesda’s published games (and not just the ones they develop), the fact that they’re announcing their attendance at all does imply that they have a decent amount of stuff to show off.
Now that could mean anything from Fallout 76 DLC to a new DOOM game, but DLC isn’t big enough news for a whole presentation and they literally just released Doom: The Dark Ages.

I think there’s a chance we could see something The Elder Scrolls VI-shaped… or at least, more of a chance than we’ve had for a very long time.
