Elden Ring was 2022's most completed game, amazingly

Wow, well done

You might not be aware of this, but the vast majority of players tend not to see video games all the way through to the end.

It turns out the more casual players out there don't really have the time or patience to see something like God Of War Ragnarök or The Last Of Us Part II to their conclusions, which is fair enough to be honest. Video games are long these days, you guys.

But this is why I'm so surprised that 2022's most-completed video game is none other than Elden Ring. That's right, one of the longest and hardest* video games of the year was the one most people saw through to the bitter end.

As spotted by Kotaku, Elden Ring is logged as the most-completed game over at HowLongToBeat.com, with nearly 6,000 users on the site claiming they have both played and beaten the punishing RPG.

While this data obviously only takes into account HowLongToBeat users and not every single person who has played Elden Ring, it's an impressive figure when stacked up against the others on the list.

Stray, the cat game that only clocks in at around 5ish hours in total, was beaten by nearly 4,000 users. Pokémon Legends: Arceus, meanwhile, managed 2,500.

Interestingly, however, Elden Ring was also the website's most "retired" game. This basically means they've given up on it and have yet to come back - if they ever do. 261 players retired from Elden Ring in total, which is more than double any other game this year. I'm willing to bet they came up against a particularly nasty boss and simply decided the game wasn't worth their time anymore. Which, again, is totally fair enough.

*If you responded to this with 'that's what she said' I hope you have a lovely day.
