The Game Awards are over and done with for another year, and I think we can all agree that it was an enjoyable show. For many, the highlight was Christopher Judge’s acceptance speech. The actor won ‘best performance’ for his role as Kratos in God Of War Ragnarök and deservedly took his sweet time thanking his friends, fans, and family. The evening also brought us our first look at Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s gameplay which is a major step-up from the first game.

Hideo Kojima stopped by to finally announce Death Stranding 2 with a bizarre trailer that I can barely comprehend, plus it was revealed that Idris Elba will star in Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC. The biggest news of the night though was the fact that Elden Ring took home the coveted GOTY award but since then, it has been dethroned as the year’s best-selling title.

Take a look at Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s brand new trailer below.

As reported by VGC, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is officially the biggest selling game of the year in the US - despite only releasing at the end of October. According to data published by the NPD Group, Modern Warfare II topped October’s charts with just two days of sales and continued to reign supreme throughout November, outselling titles like God Of War Ragnarök, Sonic Frontiers, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

This means that Modern Warfare II is the “best-seller” this year. NPD’s data is based on dollar sales unless otherwise stated so presumably, this accolade is revenue based. It’s not a total surprise as Activision previously confirmed that Modern Warfare II marked the publisher’s most successful launch ever. The title took a whopping $1 billion in sales in just 10 days.

NPD went on to report that console sales are also up. In November, console sales were up 45% year-on-year, with $1.3 billion worth sold. This is reportedly down to a rise in PS5 availability. Let’s hope that availability continues to improve into 2023.
