Dr Disrespect Says 'Elden Ring' Is "6/10", Because Of One Glaring Issue

You can't please everyone

Controversial streamer Herschel 'Dr Disrespect' Beahm IV has shared his thoughts on Elden Ring, FromSoftware's critically acclaimed open-world RPG.

Like many new players, Beahm's relationship with Elden Ring so far has been one of ups and downs. After one week in The Lands Between, he decided the game was a mere 6/10. He claimed that it felt a little too grind-heavy, and criticised the game's "terrible" camera.

Did you know you could actually pause Elden Ring? Well, now you do. Take a look at exactly how to do it below!

Since then, Beahm appears to have come round on the game somewhat - but he still maintains that there are one or two major gripes that prevent FromSoftware's latest from being regarded as genuinely perfect.

The YouTuber was recent asked if his score had changed at all, and he immediately gushed with praise for the game's massive open world, enemies, and combat systems.

“I haven’t even begun to explore other possibilities with my character yet,” he said, noting that he still has so much to explore “in terms of abilities."

Having played the game more, Beahm now rates the game as an "8.8" or an "8.9", which is clearly a huge step up from a 6. Even so, he's not entirely sure why the game has received so many perfect scores when he feels there are still a few unignorably irritating problems. Specifically, the camera and the game's menus.

“There’s a lot of third-person camera stuff going on that I don’t like,” he explained. “I don’t want my camera to go through the bodies of creatures. It seems like we spend a lot of time seeing that stuff when we’re fighting bosses. How can they fix that? I don’t know, I’ve heard third-person camera design is tough.”

He also lamented the game's "clunky" menus as something you just have to get used to. Beahm is far from the first to call out some of the issues with the game's menus, but I suppose how much you can overlook things like this boils down to how much you're enjoying the rest of Elden Ring. For most players, it seems to have been pretty easy.
