Whether you like him or not, Dr Disrespect is without question one of the most popular and successful content creators on the planet.

There once was a time when Dr Disrespect could be found on Twitch, however, when the content creator was banned from the platform in June 2020, he moved over to YouTube. On the Google-owned platform, the Dr has over 4.5 million subscribers and his livestreams regularly venture into the hundreds of thousand views. So it’s fair to say that despite the Twitch ban, the Dr landed firmly on his feet.

Outside of content creation, you may have also seen the Dr collaborate with companies such as Turtle Beach promoting accessories including the fantastic Stealth Pro gaming headset, and he’s even started his own video game development studio called the Midnight Society with its first video game being Deadrop described as a ‘vertical extraction shooter’. Oh, and it's also a game that features NFTs.

It should come as little surprise that Dr Disrespect has entered the world of video game development, and that’s not just because he’s a successful content creator. In 2011, the Dr began his four-year stint with Call of Duty studio, Sledgehammer Games where he was appointed as its community manager. So other than content creation, he’s often had a close connection with the industry.

Naturally, many are dubious about the quality of the Drs upcoming video game. This could be due to the fact that it’s his first video game and that it has NFTs. Regardless, until the game is released into the wild and has finished its development, we won't know its true quality until then.

A trailer for Deadrop has well, dropped and to be fair, it doesn't look too bad. A short 30-second (ish) trailer was shared on the Midnight Society Twitter account and the game kind of looks like a battle royale Need for Speed with guns.

Deadrop is currently playable as an early build for those who have gained early access through the Founders Pass NFT program. Earlier this year, Dr Disrespect’s game was being torn apart by critics, and the streamer raged after losing money to a fan.

No release date has been announced for Deadrop at the time of writing. It will be released on PC and Midnight Society has stated that there are plans for a PlayStation and Xbox release at some point.
