DC fans say Jacob Elordi should be the new Superman

Fans believe that Jacob Elordi would be the ideal candidate for the DCU's new, younger Superman. James Gunn has responded to the demand.

The hunt for a new Superman is on, but fans seem to have settled on a replacement actor already.

It came as a huge shock when it was announced that Henry Cavill won’t be playing Superman in the initial stages of the DCU, especially since he’d already confirmed his return. Fans immediately began to wonder who could possibly replace him, if anyone. Well, it seems they came up with an answer.

Take a look at this awesome open-world Superman game concept below.

As Dexerto reports, Jacob Elordi seems to be the internet’s new favourite for Superman. Best known for his roles in The Kissing Booth series (fun fact, there’s three of those now) and Euphoria, many believe that the 25-year-old actor would be the perfect guy to portray a younger Clark Kent in the newly-announced Superman: Legacy.

“I honestly do think Jacob Elordi will be cast. Guy is in [sic] the age where he can commit to a film franchise. Has the looks for it too,” tweeted @nehaxslays. “Not to spoil the casting for everyone, but Jacob Elordi will play Superman in Superman: Legacy, and Murray Bartlett will be Jor-El,” wrote @devrunner2049.

So many people have been talking about the possibility, in fact, that last month, DC Studios co-chairperson James Gunn weighed in - although perhaps not with the response that fans were hoping for. “My thoughts are no one has been cast as Superman yet,” he said. “Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is finished or close to finished, and it isn’t. We’ll announce a few things in not too long, but the casting of Superman won’t be one of them.”

At the very least, it’s not a no, and it shows that the higher-ups are aware of the demand. Superman: Legacy is currently set to release in cinemas in 2025, so it could be a while before we know who the new star is.
