Dark Souls fan helps a 69-year-old dad beat his first ever video game, and what a game to beat for your first time.
We all know that beating any game of FromSoftware is no small task, whether it’s Elden Ring, Demon’s Souls or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, to name a few. Many may have started a FromSoftware campaign, but never finished it, due to being defeated by its difficulty very early on.
So, if you are one of those who has proudly defeated a FromSoftware title and joined that prestigious club, now you have a new member amongst the ranks by the name of GigaDad.

As reported by Dexerto, YouTuber Babe1Babe2 challenged his dad to not only play Dark Souls for the first time, but also defeat the entire game. This is coming from a dad who thought that playing video games was a “waste of time.”
It had taken 69-year-old GigaDad about nine months to defeat Dark Souls, and let’s be fair, many would have taken a lot longer to get through the game originally released in 2011.
After GigiDad had defeated the final boss of Dark Souls, Gwyn, Lord of Cinder, let’s just say that he no longer thought video games were a waste of time.
What’s more, GigaDad not only enjoyed his time with Dark Souls but is said to be a regular guest on Babe1Babe2’s streams and interacts with the community in the chat.
It’s estimated that GigaDad died well over 1,400 times during his complete playthrough of Dark Souls, and when asked why he did it for his son, he replied: “It’s because I love you.”
“I did not really care to learn a bunch about video games, I wanted to learn a bunch about you. I accomplished both,” he added.

As a dad who has loved playing video games for as long as I can remember, this story is as wholesome as it gets. I would have loved to have played video games with my dad, which is why I take any opportunity I can to play with my son.
Hopefully, we’ll see Babe1Babe2 and GigaDad team up for some Elden Ring: Nightreign co-op action one day during a stream.
