Last week saw one developer announce an upcoming collaboration with the hit anime inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 and it is safe to say that fans are feeling the excitement.

Much to the shock of fans from both fandoms, developers Kuro Games announced that its open-world RPG, Wuthering Waves would be collaborating with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners some time in 2026.

Check out the official trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners below!

Although not much has been revealed about the collaboration just yet, we do know that “characters from Night City will step into Solaris” as the two anime worlds collide.

However, for those not in the know, let us rewind a little bit.

Airing back in 2022, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a Netflix anime series inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.

Despite following the story of a different gang of characters, the anime was set in Night City once more and despite only consisting of ten episodes, it is widely regarded as one of the best video game adaptations.

On the other hand, Wuthering Waves is an open-world RPG/gacha game that was first released last year.

Much like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail which lead the pack when it comes to the gacha genre, Wuthering Waves is holding its own and it seems as though it will host an influx of new players thanks to this exciting collaboration.

News of the two worlds coming together broke last week when the official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Twitter account revealed that “a new wave is coming to Night City”.

It was not long before fans descended upon the comments and offered their thoughts about this unlikely pair.

“Me after spending my life savings on this collab,” one user posted, alongside a meme image of a dishevelled looking David from Edgerunners.

Another user had one requirement when they said, “Give us Rebecca and Lucy as resonators (playable characters) please!”

Although some fans were not happy about CD Projekt RED collaborating with a “mere gacha game”, it seems as though the vast majority of players are excited.

Now we just have another year to wait…
