Cyberpunk 2077 dev quietly confirms new spinoff games

Although CD Projekt Red is hard at work on sequels for its The Witcher and Cyberpunk series, it seems it has also turned its attention to a series of brand-new spinoff games.

There is no denying that CD Projekt Red is one of the best gaming studios out there.

Considering it is the brains behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 - two of the best RPGs out there - it isn’t surprising that fans are ready to see what the studio comes up with next.

Although we already know that it is currently working on The Witcher 4 and a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, a recent financial report reveals that it also wants to turn its attention to mobile games.

Basing them on their IPs, these new projects will give the studio the chance to branch out onto other platforms such as “mobile games, TV & film, and more”.

As a result, we could see the worlds of The Witcher and Cyberpunk head to Android and iOS in the future.

The documents released by CD Projekt Red reveal that these potential projects will be made “in association with external partners”.

This can only mean that any mobile games will not be made in-house and would instead mean that it will share titles such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 with other developers and allow them to create something based on the IPs.

Although Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to receive the mobile game treatment, the same can’t be said for The Witcher.

There is the mobile port for Gwent as well as The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a Pokémon-Go style game that shut down after just two years.

So it remains to be seen how the mobile gaming market will do for CD Projekt Red.

However, with The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 not expected for a few years, this will be the perfect way to fill in the gap between releases.
