Yesterday saw CD Projekt Red release an update on its upcoming projects, one of which includes the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

The CD Projekt Red team took to Twitter and its official website yesterday to share their progress over the first half of 2024.

As well as revealing news on The Witcher 4, it also spoke a bit about the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, currently codenamed Project Orion.

“The first half of the year was also a busy period for our Boston studio, which is laying the groundwork for Project Orion – a new game set in the Cyberpunk universe – says Michał Nowakowski, Joint CEO of CD PROJEKT,” the blog post read.

As well as the blog post, a short video was shared to Twitter which showed Piotr Nielubowicz talking more about the project.

The Chief Financial Officer for CD Projekt Red shared the same update but this one was met with some mixed reactions from fans.

“Here’s hoping people don’t expect Cyberpunk (2) for a long time. That game isn’t coming until the 2030s,” one comment read.

Whereas another said: ‘My heart can't take this, chooms”.

As of now, we don’t yet know too much about Cyberpunk 2 but game director Paweł Sasko is feeling optimistic about the future of the series.

Not only that but the game’s narrative director Igor Sarzyński recently shared the team’s excitement.

“I couldn't be more excited for this project and I'm sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up,” he said.

Other than now knowing that the sequel is coming along well, we don’t know much else but it is still exciting news for fans of the 2020 RPG.

With fans hoping that the sequel will release in a much better state than Cyberpunk 2077, it seems that only time will tell.
