A remastered version of a classic 2010 first person shooter is currently free on both GOG and Steam, but you only have just over 24 hours left if you want to add it to your account.

CD Projekt, the team behind the likes of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, are currently giving away Metro 2033 Redux for the incredibly generous price of free.

So, what do you have to do to claim it? Is there some kind of hidden subscription or weird loophole you have to take advantage of?

Nope. Head on over to the GOG.com page for Metro 2033 Redux and add it to your account. You’ll have to have a GOG account, but that’s free. Just slap in an email and you’re ready to go.

You can even unsubscribe from the mailing lists afterwards if you really want, although the only thing GOG seem to email me about is free games now that I think about it…

If you wanna add it through Steam, it’s even easier. Assuming that you already have a Steam account, just mosey on over to the store page for Metro 2033 Redux and add it to your account.

It’s really that simple. I should know, because I just did it.

If you’ve yet to play this one, I massively recommend it (especially for free).

I played the original version of Metro 2033 when it came out in 2010 and loved it, but the Redux version is a much, much better version of the same game.

It's got every kind of upgrade you can think of. Better AI, better lighting, better particle effects, and it even retroactively added a bunch of features from later games to the game too, such as customisable weapons and better stealth mechanics.

Metro 2033 Redux just makes an already great game even greater, and it’s an easy recommendation when you don’t have to pay a dime for it.
