Cyberpunk 2077's next update is likely to mark the arrival of the next-gen versions of the RPG for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S, and it might be on its way sooner than we thought.
Thirteen months after its release, CD Projekt Red is still addressing a lot of cyber-flies in the ointment of the tarnished dystopian role-playing game. Don't get the wrong end of the stick here, as Ewan said that Cyberpunk 2077 did glimmer with occasional moments of greatness in his review, but there was an enormous level of hype to live up to and the onslaught of delays didn't do much to dissuade worries about the state of the game when it arrived.
"Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest, most ambitious and definitely the most complicated project in our 27-year history. In almost every aspect, we tried to take it a step further, just as we’ve done with every Witcher game we’ve released," said Adam Kiciński, president and joint CEO of the company, in an interview from November 2021. "We believe that in the long run Cyberpunk 2077 will be perceived as a very good game, and like our other titles, it will sell for years – especially as the hardware gets more powerful over time and we improve the game."

Still, one could say that the writing isn't on the wall for Cyberpunk 2077 yet. Remember how Hello Games transformed No Man's Sky? While CD Projekt Red has dedicated a portion of its developers to the continuing support of the RPG, this upcoming update looks to be the largest that we will have seen for some time. A couple of days ago, players spotted that the build was updated from its October 2021 version, and the last patch that Cyberpunk 2077 got was in September 2021. The company did state that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the game are "scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms."
As a result, the thinking goes that this next update will be a hefty one and arrive with the new-gen versions. What this update contains is all to play for as CD Projekt Red rejected the rumours that the game would be receiving a "soft relaunch" under the name "Samurai Edition." Be that as it may, a number of datamined discoveries like new gigs, weapons and a new game plus mode would be welcomed by those who have stuck by Cyberpunk 2077's side.
