I’m not convinced that I’ll ever clear my backlog; it’s packed to the rafters, and its size only continues to increase given how many intriguing games keep dropping.

Just take a look at the remainder of this year alone.

We’ve got Cronos: The New Dawn, Borderlands 4, Silent Hill f, Ghost of Yōtei, Battlefield 6, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A all on the way - and that’s just to name a select few games.

Beyond that, GTA VI, Fable, 007 First Light, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Haunted Chocolatier, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, The Duskbloods, and Saros are set to land amongst many, many, many others.

One of those ‘other’ titles that may not be on your radar but perhaps should be is Neo Berlin 2087.

Perhaps best described as a combination of LA Noire and Cyberpunk 2077, Neo Berlin 2087 is an upcoming action RPG from developer Elysium Game Studio.

Played from both a third and first-person perspective, it’s described as a “cinematic detective thriller that takes place in a dark future vision of Berlin”.

“Solve a far-reaching conspiracy on an emotional Cyberpunk Journey about justice, friendship, love, guilt, sacrifice and betrayal,” teases the synopsis.

Players will assume the role of Nolan, a detective with a troubled past who’s tasked with protecting the police chief’s daughter, Natalie, after he is murdered.

It’s believed that Natalie could hold the secret to understanding her father’s killing in a case that’ll affect the entire city, with Nolan and Natalie’s fates “intertwined in ways [they] could never have imagined”.

It’s not just Berlin that you’ll be exploring; the story will also take you to the Wasteland, which is home to outcasts and malfunctioning, sentient machines.

As for the dual first and third person perspective, it looks as if you’ll be able to freely switch between the two judging by the gameplay featured in the game’s trailer.

I will admit, it’s the type of game that I feel I need to get my hands on before I commit to playing.

It looks incredibly promising, which is precisely why I wanted to place it on your radar.

That being said, its footage walks the line of looking both polished and incredibly janky - a trademark of several Unreal Engine 5 projects.

It is Elysium Game Studio’s first project and devs have likely been beavering away improving things since that first trailer dropped, but I do hope Neo Berlin 2087 didn’t set its ambitions too high.

There’s no word on a release date for this one, but fingers crossed it’s something we’ll see a demo drop for at some point.

It’s scheduled to land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
