Cyberpunk players are going to love this new, upcoming Steam game that clearly takes some inspiration from CD Projekt Red’s world.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been a hot topic this week as it was recently announced via a CD Projekt Red earnings call that a sequel is in early production.

But first we need to wait for The Witcher IV to come out…

God knows what the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will be about or which celebrity will be featured this time but hopefully the studio has learnt its lesson and is taking its time with the next game.

While you wait you might as well check out this upcoming Steam game, one that carries the vibe of Cyberpunk but presents it in a very different way.

It’s called DEFECT, and while you can’t play it just yet it looks fantastic, and a must-play for anyone who loves Cyberpunk 2077.

DEFECT’s description says it’s a “cyberpunk, squad-based, Immersive Shooter set in a dystopian world, where AI controls the city with fearsome police forces. They battle rogue gang factions in intense 4x4x4x4, multi-objective, multi-finale face-offs featuring futuristic weapons & tech.”

From the screenshots alone it looks like an ace first-person shooter, very stylish and the world design looks fantastic.

I’m not always a fan of the cyberpunk aesthetic, I’m more into the cleaner, smoother future look but I can’t deny DEFECT is looking gorgeous.

Unfortunately I can give you no update on when you’ll be able to play, as at the time of writing there isn’t even a release window attached to the game’s Steam page.

It probably won’t be too long of a wait though, and you’ll be waiting for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel long after this game comes out so it’s worth keeping an eye on, I’ll definitely be giving it a go when I can.
