We already know that CD Projekt RED is working on a sequel to its hit RPG Cyberpunk 2077 but thanks to a recent update, we finally have some more news on how the project is coming along.

There is no denying that CD Projekt RED has a lot on its plate with working on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, The Witcher 4, and an untitled original IP simultaneously.

Check out the Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update launch trailer below!

As a result, the Poland-based studio has recently had to hire 50 extra developers to help with the workload, according to a recent financial report.

However, it was thanks to this financial report that we were able to get more information surrounding the multiple projects, including how many developers have been assigned to each.

For example, there are 411 working on The Witcher 4, 49 on Sirius (The Witcher multiplayer spin-off title) and 79 on Hadar (its unknown IP).

As for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, there are currently 84 developers working on it so it is safe to say that we can expect the next instalment a few years after the release of The Witcher 4, CDPR’s main project.

As it stands, The Witcher 4 is currently in its full production phase which means we can expect it over the next couple of years with Cyberpunk 2 not being too far behind.

However, according to CDPR’s latest earnings conference, it has been revealed that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will be entering its pre-production phase over the next few weeks.

Codenamed Project Orion, news of the project update took to r/cyberpunkgame and it is safe to say that fans are feeling the excitement.

“They have also recruited quite a lot of new talents, going from 60+ developers to 80+. And they hope to double that number by the end of the year,” one user claimed.

Another user took a guess at a potential release date.

“This is going to be a 2030 release,” they shared.

“Just based on dev timelines & recruitment targets, there's no way they will knock this out sooner unless they put the Witcher team in Poland back on it after TW4.”

It is an exciting few years for CDPR fans so let us hope it manages to keep on track with all of its upcoming projects.
