Cyberpunk 2077 players think Hideo Kojima's cameo may have been quietly teasing an unreleased game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is no stranger to an Easter egg with the action RPG featuring various celebrity cameos, nods at much-loved movies and more. However, one cameo in particular may have hinted at an unreleased game.

Released back in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 is CD Projekt RED’s dive into the futuristic world of cyberware and despite a rocky launch, it has gone on to become a highly successful title. Praised for its adaptive gameplay, gripping narrative and an overall fun experience, the open-world RPG is also full to the brim of Easter eggs and secrets.

Check out the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty trailer below!

Featuring Keanu Reeves as rocker boy Johnny Silverhand and Idris Elba as Solomon Reed in the 2023 DLC Phantom Liberty, the game is no stranger to featuring some famous faces. One such face is that of Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima who is most known for his work on the Death Stranding and the Metal Gear franchises.

Found hanging out at a Konpeki Plaza bar, Kojima’s character plays a braindance developer, Hideyoshi Oshima, who has a few lines of dialogue discussing their current project. Although it could be considered to be generic dialogue, some fans believe Kojima might have been talking about his upcoming project OD.

This theory was shared by Reddit user Animusynthetika who captured the dialogue in question.

"I want my productions to convey real, raw human emotion," says Kojima's character. "These complex, realistic feelings and emotions are what I aspire to recreate ... woven into much better stories, of course."

We first saw OD at last year’s The Game Awards and the trailer that came alongside it lines up perfectly with Kojima’s dialogue. However, it may be a while until we see more from this upcoming project as the game designer is currently hard at work on Death Stranding 2.

Needless to say, Kojima certainly knows how to keep his fans on their toes.
