Creator Of Bitcoin Is Now The Fifteenth Richest Person In The World

Satoshi Nakamoto is now richer than the creator of Dell computers.

Though there is a lot of back and forth about the pros and cons of cryptocurrency, there are a lot of people who like the idea of an entirely online way to pay and ‘mine’ money. Others see it as a massive scam and a huge environmental issue, undercutting the push to halt climate change. But you know who it’s been an undeniable success for? The creator of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the most famous cryptocurrency out there. It paved the way for crypto being taken seriously, and of course, the person who created the currency is now incredibly rich. Satoshi Nakamoto (which is the pseudonym of the creator) is now roughly the fifteenth richest person on the planet according to The Independent, putting them above famous billionaires like Michael Bloomberg, Jeff Bezo’s ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, and founder of Dell, Michael Dell.

The Independent reports that Nakamoto’s net worth is estimated at about $73 billion. Of course, a lot of their worth is going to be invested in crypto, how could it not be? When looking at Forbes' “The World’s Real-Time Billionaires", this would technically place the Bitcoin founder at sixteenth on the list at the time of writing. This nestled them neatly between Zhong Shanshan, a Chinese pharmaceuticals and beverages businessman, and Carlos Slim Helu’s telecoms empire. Of course, with stock changes and other influences, the position is bound to fluctuate, but it’s still a ridiculous amount of money.

There are a lot of people who have tried to follow in Nakamoto’s footsteps. There are now too many coins that you can invest in to count, and more than a few of them are pump and dump scams. They’ll lure buyers in with gimmicks or funny names, and then fall apart suddenly, making the owner a lot of money and leaving buyers with losses. And that’s without even going into NFTs and that entire system, which is slowly integrating itself with platforms like Twitter.

It’s more than unlikely that you’ll become a billionaire through crypto, but I mean, congrats Satoshi Nakamoto on that feat.
