Call Of Duty meets Cuphead in gorgeous new shooter

Call Of Duty meets Cuphead in gorgeous new shooter

Upcoming indie shooter Mouse is perfect for fans of Cuphead and Call of Duty.

Mouse officially joins Grand Theft Auto VI and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam on my list of most-anticipated games in 2025.

If you’re looking for a game that has the frantic FPS fun captured in the Call of Duty franchise mixed with Cuphead’s golden age of animation visuals, you’re definitely going to want to check out Mouse. This indie shooter is inspired by 1930s cartoons and to put it frankly, it looks positively stunning. Polish developer Fumi Games is behind the project which is eyeing up a 2025 release window. We were granted our first look at Mouse in action earlier this year but a new gameplay trailer has just landed this week, and the game is looking better than we imagined.

ICYMI: Take a look at GTA VI in action below.

If you’ve watched Disney’s very first cartoon, Steamboat Willie, then you’ll have a pretty good idea of what Mouse’s aesthetic is. The black and white classic animated visuals set Mouse apart from all other shooters. In fact, Cuphead is the only title I can think of that really boasts a similar art style. What’s particularly fun about Mouse is that it doesn’t just look like classic cartoons, its gameplay and animations are inspired by them too.

For example, at one point, we see the player shooting enemies down with a finger gun. In another clip, the player throws dynamite, turning their enemies into ash - except for their stunned blinking eyes which remain in a comical fashion. It certainly looks like a hoot of fun.

In Mouse, you’ll assume the role of a private detective who is tasked with exploring a noir-eseque city overrun with gangs and mobsters. Fumi plans to launch the game on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. The 2025 launch is specifically focused on PC, but Fumi notes those other formats are actively in the works. We cannot wait.
