Actor Kamar de los Reyes, perhaps best known in the gaming community for voicing villain Raul Menendez in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, has died at the age of 56.

A family rep confirmed to Deadline that de los Reyes died on Sunday 31 December following a brief battle with cancer. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the actor’s family later relocated to Las Vegas, where he grew up. In the 1980s, de los Reyes took the plunge and moved to Los Angeles to try and forge an acting career. Forge he did, boasting an illustrious career that spanned over 30-years with projects across both stage and screen.

De los Reyes’ first big break came in 1994 when he originated the role of Pedro Quinn in the acclaimed off-Broadway production of the play Blade to the Heat. Following this, he was cast in George C. Wolfe’s Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest. Hollywood’s doors soon opened with de los Reyes later working alongside Angelina Jolie in thriller Salt, Oliver Stone in Nixon, and Jennifer Lopez in The Cell.

The actor also quickly became a familiar face on TV. From 1995 to 2009, de los Reyes starred as regular Antonio Vega in soap opera One Life To Live, with appearances over the years in Law & Order, Blue Bloods, Pretty Little Liars, Castle, The Passage, The Rookie, and most recently in All American.
