Brand New Assassin’s Creed Game Is Completely Free, Available Today

Ubisoft has announced a brand new Assassin’s Creed game, and it’s available to play for free today.

The Assassin’s Creed series remains one of the most popular game franchises of all time, spanning nearly 18 years across a variety of genres and formats.

In addition to the video games, it’s also been turned into a tie-in comic books, novels, board games, and even a live-action film.

Six months on from the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has now launched Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour: Medieval Baghdad for mobile devices.

Developed by Welsh startup Sugar Creative, the game is the next iteration of the popular Discovery Tour mode from previous Assassin’s Creed games.

This one is based on Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Baghdad. For those who played Mirage, you may remember that the game didn’t have a Discovery Mode like the others. The educational elements were instead baked into the game itself.

However, since there are plenty of people who don’t identify as gamers and aren’t interested in playing Assassin’s Creed, the historical immersion of Discovery Tour is a good way to entice them over.

Discovery Tour: Medieval Baghdad features a codex where you can read encyclopedia entries about Baghdad’s rich history, art, and culture during the timeline of the game. It also has an explore mode, where you can explore the city and take part in different quests and minigames.

It sounds like it might be a decent educational tool for anyone who is interested in the historical context of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but perhaps wasn’t too interested in playing the game.

Obviously, it should also have some real-world applications in classrooms and schools, something that the other Discovery Tour games have done well.

In other Assassin’s Creed news, the first expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Claws of Awaji, launches later this month on all platforms. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will also be getting some new free DLC later this year.
