Bloodborne: The New Nightmare aims to test even veteran hunters

Something 'orrible festers in Yharnam

Bloodborne fans who have already exhausted the base game’s content may want to look at its expansions for the extra nightmares.

FromSoftware only ever originally released one DLC for Bloodborne—The Old Hunters. It was an extra campaign that took you to the Hunter’s Nightmare to fight a whole manner of new beasts.

Fans have been able to increase the amount of content in the game thanks to the power of modding, bringing new enemies, bosses, items and other shenanigans to the 10-year-old game.

I guess it’s the best we have while we wait for Sony to finally do a proper Bloodborne sequel.

Bloodborne: The New Nightmare is one such mod, which transforms your experience in Yharnam with fresh content and tweaks to bits you’re already familiar with.

“The mod increases enemy's density and add a lot more hostile NPC hunters to many areas both friendly and foes,” reads the mod description over on Nexus Mods.

“Increases buff length and early late game weapons can be obtain in Center Yharnam. Add new items to buff the hunters to deal with horde of enemy.”

The description goes on to detail just how some of these changes affect the game, including buffed weapons, summoned NPC hunters not disappearing, and tweaking the balance of chalice dungeons.

Before you get too excited, remember that only specific copies of Bloodborne can be modified like this.

You’ll need to have either a modded PS4 or an emulated copy on PC, and we can’t tell you how to do either of those things here.

Still, it’s a good one to check out if you have the means to.

Hopefully Sony will wake up and realise the potential for a proper Bloodborne remaster or sequel one of these days, because the fans thirst for it.
