Bloodborne Meets Tony Hawk's Pro Skater In Upcoming Indie Banger

Hell froze over, and the devil learned to ice skate

The coolest looking game of 2025 (and, honestly, maybe of any year) finally has a release date, and, more importantly, we now know exactly which platforms we’ll be able to play it on.

Bloodborne is cool and all, but you know what would make it even cooler? If you could Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater-style kickflip off the Blood Moon during Gehrman’s boss fight.

Luckily for us, one solo developer has decided to make our moon-grinding dreams a reality, because they just announced exactly when Skate Story is going to drop.

You might remember Skate Story from way back in December 2022, as publisher Devolver Digital showed the game off during their Public Access Holiday Special stream.

The game immediately caught the attention of everyone who saw the first trailer, because everything from the ridiculous story, to the trippy visuals and even the unnecessarily sick soundtrack had everyone looking forward to its 2023 release.

Of course, 2023 came and went, and the game was then pushed back to 2024. And considering you’re reading this article, I probably don’t have to tell you that it was then pushed back again to 2025.

Considering developer Sam Eng is working on the project by themselves, I think they deserve a hefty amount of slack when it comes to delays. However, I kind of assumed that the game was going to be pushed back a second time, considering there’s only a couple of months left in the year as it is.

Turns out, nope; as revealed last night on the official PlayStation Blog, Skate Story is indeed still coming out in 2025. December 8, 2025, to be exact.

It'll also be landing on a bunch of different platforms, including Steam, macOS, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 (sorry in advance to Xbox fans).

I highly suggest giving Sam Eng's post on the PlayStation Blog a read if you're excited for this one, because it gives us more of an insight into the ridiculous story (did I mention you're supposed to eat the moon using your skateboard?) and the incredible soundtrack, crafted by New Jersey electropop band Blood Cultures.

Part of me wonders if this might end up being a PlayStation Plus Essential or PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue title when it does drop in December, given that Sam Eng has been very keen to post about the game on the PlayStation Blog recently.

Gotta admit, it would be a banger early Christmas present, Sony…
