Ben Affleck agrees that Batman V Superman was pretty bad

It turns out, Ben Affleck completely understands fan's criticism of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

To say the DCEU is struggling would be an understatement. Last month, Black Adam looked set to return the franchise to form only for it to be met with, well, rather underwhelming reviews. It doesn’t help that both the upcoming The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are plagued by casting controversies.

It’s not all doom and gloom. Our hopes are high when it comes to Shazam! Fury of the Gods, plus you may have heard that James Gunn is now the Kevin Feige of DC so we could be turning a corner very soon. In the meantime though, Batman actor Ben Affleck has reflected on his time in the DCEU and he’s in agreement that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was a bad film.

Speaking of DC, check out our Gotham Knights review.

Affleck opened up about his thoughts on the film during an interview with Empire (Via Esquire). He explained, “I can understand people saying [Batman v Superman] was too dark, or this was outside the tone of what I’m used to seeing with a Batman story, and I think that’s a fair criticism.” Clearly, Affleck is treading carefully but he’s certainly made his opinion known. Let’s not forget the Sad Affleck meme that was born when Dawn of Justice was released.

Affleck isn’t yet done with his DC tenure. The actor is set to reprise his role as Batman in The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom but we don’t yet know if he’ll feature in another solo outing. It certainly would be strange to wrap up the character’s story in another hero’s film but then again, the DCEU is a lawless place right about now.

In other DC news, we know that Henry Cavill is returning as Superman which, besides the appointment of James Gunn, is the best news to come out of the DCEU in a long time. Let’s face it, Cavill has got plenty of time now that he’s finished with The Witcher.
