Rocksteady’s redemption arc is seemingly underway.

Last year was a tough one for the studio; Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League flopped.

Unfortunately, the writing was on the wall ahead of the game’s release.

It was pretty clear that very few fans wanted to see the studio opt for a live-service pivot.

Suicide Squad’s short-lived run ended this January though, with the game now only remaining playable offline.

The final content update did reveal that Batman and his fellow Justice League members didn’t really die.

Instead, clones were killed - opening up the possibility of there being a follow-up game to the Arkham Trilogy.

Well, it is now being reported that a new Batman game is in the works.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League missed the mark for many fans.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier was the first to report on the title, although he added that Rocksteady will initially be assisting Avalanche Software with the development of a definitive edition of Hogwarts Legacy.

After that point, it’s believed the studio will create a new single-player Batman game, although whether it’s related to the Arkham series or is something entirely new remains to be seen.

There are rumours that it could be inspired by Batman Beyond, but I’d urge you to take such news with a pinch of salt.

What fans want to see in the meantime is the launch of new-gen updates for the existing Arkham games.

“All they need is 4K 60fps, let us turn off film grain,” wrote Twitter user JamieMoranUK.

“Also bring Arkham Origins back to the Xbox Store and/or remaster it,” they continued.

“Modern consoles deserve the modern touch of Arkham games,” added Hat3Asylum.

It’s true. You may be wondering why we see so many remakes and remasters these days.

Those projects fund the creation of new games which are becoming increasingly expensive to make.

With Suicide Squad being a major financial loss, Rocksteady could do with launching a series of new-gen remasters to boost their coffers.

There’s no evidence yet to suggest that that’s what the plan is, but it makes a lot of sense so I’ll remain hopeful.
