Batman: Arkham Knight Follow-Up Just Took a Big Step Forward

A reboot or a new story altogether?

With Warner Bros. revealing that its Batman franchise is one of the ones it would be prioritising from now on, it would seem as though development is ramping up for its untitled AAA console game.

According to reports, Rocksteady Studios is aiming to move on from the disaster that was Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by turning its attention to one of the franchises which made the studio a household name:

The Batman: Arkham trilogy.

With the studio reportedly working on a single-player Batman game which may or may not be a reboot or at least a continuation of the Batman: Arkham series, a recent announcement shows that development is well underway.

Spotted by HMHdunkirk on Twitter and shared on the Batman Arkham Videos account, Rocksteady Studios has recently recruited a brand-new Game Director.

Bill Money is best known for his work on Assassin's Creed Mirage, Valhalla and Origins and was also Design Director on Arkham Origins.

Now it seems as though he will be returning to the Batman universe after accepting the role looking for a candidate who was eager to work on a 3rd-person action game with an emphasis on melee combat and open-world traversal.

Sound familiar?

Money’s return to Rocksteady could just hint at a Batman: Arkham Knight follow-up or maybe a different story entirely.

Either way, fans are excited to hear the latest announcement and took to social media to share their thoughts.

“I wonder if this game will be tied into Arkham Origins/Shadow, OR will they jump ahead and explore Batman Beyond,” one fan speculated.

Another fan was feeling hopeful.

“Yeah, things seem like they're looking up for Rocksteady,” they shared.

“I don’t care if it's a remaster or a new game, I want classic Rocksteady to make a comeback.”

With details scarce on this next Batman game, it may still be plenty of years before we become the caped crusader once more.

However, hopefully this brand-new AAA release will live up to the Batman: Arkham trilogy.
