Ubisoft has all but confirmed its long-rumoured plans to release a new-gen update for Assassin's Creed Origins.
Rumours of a proper new-gen upgrade for the excellent Assassin's Creed Origins have been swirling since December last year, and it looks like the long-awaited PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series patch is finally on the horizon.
Back in 2020 Ubisoft released a new-gen version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla that boasted enhanced graphics, improved framerates and resolution, speedier loading times, and more. A souped-up version of 2017's Assassin's Creed Odyssey followed not long after.

While not quite as substantial an upgrade as Valhalla, the Odyssey update offered an enhanced 60fps. It's expected that the Origins patch will deliver the same treatment, giving us an excellent reason to replay the classic adventure.
Details of the update actually leaked earlier this month, after dataminers uncovered evidence of Assassin's Creed Origins Update 1.60.
The update was previously rumoured to be out last week, but has yet to land. However, a recent tweet from Ubisoft (below) suggests that it's imminent.

As you can see, the company shared a GIF of Origins protagonist Bayek along with a caption that states "the wait is almost over". If this isn't a reference to the 60fps patch, I'll eat my hat. First I'd have to buy one, but I'm willing to make that investment, that's how confident I am.
