A new prequel will be added to the Assassin’s Creed timeline.

The chronological order of Ubisoft’s popular franchise is a tad convoluted, to say the least, and thus prequels are a tricky beast to tame.

However, this particular story slots nicely into events prior to Assassin's Creed Mirage.

As you’ll recall, Ubisoft marketed Mirage as a standalone experience, and thus a prequel to Basim’s journey isn’t one that’ll ruin the lore of other AC titles.

Let's remind ourselves of the stunning vistas in Assassin's Creed: Mirage.

To better explain the events that set the scene in Mirage, Dark Comics, in partnership with Ubisoft, will follow Fuladh after they discover a disturbing secret impacting their homeland.

Here’s an excerpt from Dark Horse: “Years before the events of Assassin's Creed Mirage, a young Fuladh must return to his homeland to investigate political unrest that could point to a secret Order of the Ancients stronghold.”

It continues, “But in order to discover what's behind the chaos and violence in Adulis, Fuladh and Roshan will have to confront a more immediate danger.”

Assassin's Creed Mirage: A Soar of Eagles will be released on 12 March, and is the first of a three-part series.

While kind words for the gaming side of this franchise have waned over the years, especially due to controversy and AC Shadows being delayed (again), the comics are held in high regard.

From the artwork reveal alone, fans have remarked on certain stunning aspects, with Blue Sky user Paula commenting, “Love the way the snake looks!”

Those desiring an update/announcement regarding AC content you can play should check out the latest speculation regarding a Black Flag remake.

Fans are especially hyped about this one, arguably more so than the prospect of AC Shadows being released as scheduled.

Even if that shouldn’t happen, and more delays come, at least there’s a new prequel adventure to dive into come 12 March.
