Ubisoft is always looking for new ways to expand its Assassin’s Creed universe, whether it be new video game entries, a movie, books, comics and more.

While this won’t be the first game in the series to arrive on mobile devices, Assassin’s Creed Jade looks to be the best one yet. In fact, it’s looking a little too good to be a mobile game, at least judging by its most recent Gamescom trailer.

Featuring a blend of gameplay and cinematics, if someone were to tell you that this is a full console game, I doubt that some would disbelieve that premise, at least briefly. It features the series' signature parkour, combat and style, accompanied by an epic soundtrack. Our only concern with Assassin’s Creed Jade being a mobile game is how aggressive the microtransactions may or may not be. Only time will tell.

“Explore the path of Xia in Assassin's Creed Jade, set in the third century BC, during the time of one of the first unified empires in China,” reads the synopsis of the game. “An unprecedented era of trade and cultural exchange between East and West is just beginning, but with this comes new challenges and threats lurking in the shadows.”

At this time, Assassin’s Creed Jade doesn't have a release date for Android and iOS devices. It is however in its closed beta phase, so hopefully, with a bit of luck, its public release isn't too far away and we can find out if it plays as well as it looks.

As for the more immediate future, the next big entry in the series is Assassin’s Creed Mirage which looks to take us back to the series’ 2007 roots. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in Baghdad in the year 861 taking place 12 years prior to the events of Valhalla and will star Basim Ibn Ishaq as the main protagonist.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 5 October 2023.
