Ubisoft has delisted an Assassin’s Creed game that was released eight years ago, with its online servers soon set to shut down. It has also set a deadline for existing players, after which the game will close for good.
The Assassin’s Creed series has been one of Ubisoft’s most popular properties since it first launched on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2007. Since then, it has continued to attract new fans through multiple sequels and spin-offs.
One of those spin-offs is 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, a free-to-play mobile game RPG where players build and manage their own Brotherhood, sending assassins on deadly missions. If you’re familiar with Fallout Shelter, it’s along those lines. Sadly, this Assassin’s Creed game is shutting down soon.
When is Assassin’s Creed Rebellion shutting down?
On the official Assassin’s Creed Rebellion X account, the developers announced in a statement that support for the game will end on January 12, 2027. The game has already been removed from the Google Play Store and the App Store.

On January 12, 2027, all player data will be erased. In the meantime, existing players who currently have Assassin’s Creed Rebellion available to play on their devices will be gifted one million Helix Credits when they log in and can explore the game in its entirety.
Interestingly, Assassin’s Creed Rebellion was developed by Ubisoft in collaboration with Behaviour Interactive, the studio best known for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight.
Assassin’s Creed Rebellion practically had every major character in the series, from Ezio Auditore, Edward Kenway, Kassandra, Altair, Bayek, and many more.
“Team up with more than 100 characters. Play missions to unlock new Heroes and upgrade their abilities. Boost your Heroes by crafting new weapons, armour, and accessories,” reads the description of the game.
Was Assassin’s Creed Rebellion a popular mobile game?
Judging by its Google Play downloads, at least, it most certainly was. Assassin’s Creed Rebellion was not only downloaded over 10 million times, but it also has a 4.1-star rating and over 390,000 user reviews.
However, it’s probably safe to assume that active player numbers declined significantly over time, which is why it's closing down.

Assassin’s Creed Rebellion players aren’t happy about the delisting
“Shut down a game for nothing and steal from people,” claimed ghostiplier_17 on X.
“Another game that gets shut down instead of an offline patch, nice one, Ubisoft,” exclaimed hilupi3.
“Yet another reason Ubisoft sucks these days. No reason you can't just let the server run as is,” added mtb133.
“Rest in peace, AC Rebellion. Thanks to the devs that made the game,” praised gamelandmarks.
While the frustration and disappointment from players are understandable, especially for those who have invested money in Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, suddenly closing games and delisting them forever is a trend that won't be ending anytime soon, especially in the free-to-play market.
What’s more, if active player numbers have dropped, as well as spending, it’s practically a financial sinkhole and a major expense to keep games running at a loss or little gain.
