Assassin's Creed Black Flag remaster is a thing of beauty

Assassin's Creed Black Flag remaster is a thing of beauty

This newly released 4K resolution mod for Black Flag's characters makes the whole game look better than ever.

It’s currently a very good time to be an Assassin’s Creed fan. Seriously, there’s just so much good stuff to look forward to.

At some point this year, Assassin’s Creed Mirage - which stars Valhalla’s Basim in an adventure set in ninth century Baghdad - will be releasing on PC, Xbox One, Series X/S, PS4 and PS5. We still don't know exactly when that'll be coming out, but very soon, fans have a whole Assassin’s Creed Black Flag sequel to dive into, titled Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple. Forgotten Temple will continue Edward Kenway’s story, and follow his journey to find the Pieces of Eden along the coasts of the Southeast Asian seas. The only catch? It’s not actually a game - it’s a WEBTOON series.

Take a look at the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage below.

The series will span a whopping 150 episodes over the course of three seasons. Episodes will roll out weekly from 24 April, so there’s really not long to wait. In the meantime though, if you’re looking for a good way to hype yourself up, one talented modder recently released a 4K resolution mod for Black Flag’s characters, making the game look better than ever.

As reported by DSOGaming, modder Instanity has fully upgraded all the main story characters. Basically, if they star in a cutscene, they’ve been given the gift of visible pores. However, random NPCs that are just milling around will still look the same, so don’t expect every person to look shiny and new. Still though, it’s a huge upgrade, and certainly transforms the 2013 game into something that looks a bit more recent.

Obviously, this mod only works for the PC version of the title, but if you already own that and were planning on doing another playthrough, this is a great way to spice things up a bit.

If you’re interested in trying out the mod, you can find it free on Nexus Mods here.
