It’s shaping up to be a busy month for Assassin’s Creed fans.
On 16 September, the long-awaited first DLC is set to arrive for Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the form of Claws of Awaji - free for those who pre-ordered the base game.
Players will, unsurprisingly, travel to the island of Awaji where they’ll be tasked with reclaiming a lost treasure.
It takes place after the main campaign and includes both Naoe and Yasuke, plus the DLC is set to arrive alongside the addition of ‘New Game Plus’.

As if that wasn’t enough, Assassin’s Creed: Animus is also reaching a very important point in its journey to release.
If you don’t know, Assassin’s Creed: Animus is an upcoming competitive tabletop game from Mantic Games, in partnership with Ubisoft, that spans the franchise’s multiple generations.
Playable either solo or with up to three friends, players will “explore the past, strike down targets, and race to make [their] mark on history”.
You’ll be able to select your own character and era which means you can play as Edward Kenway while your buddy plays as Yasuke.

Essentially, it’ll play out much like any other Assassin’s Creed game, albeit with a crossover appeal which, let’s face it, probably isn’t going to happen in a video game.
The reason I say it’s an important week for Animus is because its Kickstarter is set to end imminently.
The Kickstarter ends at 3pm BST on Wednesday 10 September.
Thankfully, Assassin’s Creed: Animus has well surpassed its £35,000 goal with over £200,000 pledged; that’s a relief as Mantic Games made it clear that Animus would only come to fruition if it passed its goal.

The most worrisome aspect then of its impending end means you don’t have long left to get involved if you want to back the project.
Assassin’s Creed: Animus will assumedly be readily available further down the line, but these releases tend to have Kickstarter backer-exclusive elements.
Here, for example, there are Kickstarter-exclusive character miniatures on offer should you pledge.
The basic version of the game will set you back £65 while the ‘Master Assassin’ edition will cost £100; the latter contains four additional eras.

Those exclusive eras are Assassin’s Creed Unity, Odyssey, Origins, and Syndicate.
Whether you pledge now or not, this is an exciting release to keep an eye on.
