Amber Heard Confirms 'Aquaman 2' Role Has Been Affected By Depp Trial

The actor fought hard to remain part of the DC movie

Amber Heard has confirmed that her role in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom has been stripped back, despite the actor fighting "really hard" to remain a part of the movie.

Heard's involvement in the upcoming DC superhero sequel has been a point of contention among fans for some time now, to the extent that a petition to have her removed from the project entirely has now passed 4 million signatures.

While criticism of Heard had existed for a while, it was only amplified by the ongoing, and highly publicised, legal battle between Heard and ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Depp has brought a $50million defamation lawsuit against Heard, in which the former Pirates Of The Caribbean star alleges that the accusations of abuse Heard has made against him are completely defamatory.

The ongoing court case has dredged up concerning accusations of physical and emotional abuse on both sides, leading to further calls for Warner Bros. and DC to reduce Heard's role in the Aquaman sequel,

Heard recently took to the stand once again as part of the trial, where she revealed that the public fallout against her has impacted her part as Atlantean royal Mera alongside Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

"I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn't want to include me in the film," Heard told the court on Monday, April 16.

Heard will still appear in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, but she describes it as "a very pared-down version of that role."

She continued: "I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it that depicted my character and another character - without giving any spoilers away - two characters fighting with one another. They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch out."

Depp has also lost work from Warner Bros. as result of the abuse allegations. Most notably, he was replaced as Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spinoff series Fantastic Beasts, with Mads Mikkelsen taking the role in this year's The Secrets Of Dumbledore.
