Injustice 3 is the next game in development with NetherRealm Studios, the existence of which was leaked by a current Warner Bros staff member.

NetherRealm Studios is best-known for the Mortal Kombat games but one of its other successful series is Injustice.

Injustice is a dark spin on the DC universe that sees Superman become corrupted by grief, before subjugating the planet in what he believes to be true justice.

Several DC superheroes join his cause like Wonder Woman and Cyborg but Batman stands against him, forming a resistance of other heroes to fight back against the Man of Steel’s dictatorship.

Injustice 2 launched back in 2017 and received no follow-up, but fans are reportedly getting one soon.

Injustice 3 Accidentally Confirmed By Artist

As reported by MP1st, an anonymous Warner Bros Games artist shared some of the past and present projects they’ve been working on.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 was named but that’s not very exciting as we all knew it was in the works anyway.

What really stood out though was Injustice 3, a title Warner Bros is yet to officially announce but rumours of which had surfaced in the years prior.

NetherRealm Studios will lead development once again which makes sense as the team’s last game, Mortal Kombat 1, launched back in 2023. After concluding the game’s run of DLC expansions, it’d only make sense for the studio to jump back to the Injustice series as its next game.

MP1st also noted that some of the voice actors for the Injustice series, namely Superman’s VA George Newbern, reportedly let the project slip during a fan interaction at Comic Con.

All the evidence points to Injustice 3 being NetherRealm’s next project and perhaps this leak will spur Warner Bros Games on to officially announce it.

How Can Injustice 3 Expand On Injustice 2?

At the time of writing, plot details for Injustice 3 are anyone’s guess but it’s clear the game’s story is going to face some challenges.

While the first Injustice game had a cut-and-dry ending, Injustice 2 decided to give players a choice.

For the final confrontation, you could either choose Batman or Superman as your hero of choice and who you picked would determine the ending of the story.

If you picked Batman, the Dark Knight would depower Superman with Gold Kryptonite before sealing him in the Phantom Zone, though Superman boasted that even without his powers the realm wouldn’t imprison him forever.

Superman’s ending was much darker and saw the Man of Steel successfully regain control of Earth using technology taken from Brainiac.

He turned his attention to the wider multiverse and vowed to bring order to all realities, even making Batman a puppet using mind-control.

Injustice 3 might have to make one of these endings canon or turn both into their own single-player campaigns.

We won’t know for sure until the game has been revealed but at least we now know that it’s on the way.
