'Aliens' Is A New Single-Player Action Horror, Coming Soon

It's been announced that a new Aliens game is on the way, and it's coming to PC, consoles and VR.

In case you didn’t have enough horror in your life right now, both with the likes of The Quarry and, y’know, life in general, it’s just been confirmed that a brand new Alien game is on the way, and it sounds like it’ll be a good one.

The title was revealed totally out of the blue by the official Alien Twitter account, and no, it’s not Aliens: Dark Descent, which was already announced back at Summer Game Fest. This is a whole new single-player experience coming to multiple (mostly unannounced) platforms, sometime in the future.

Speaking of Aliens: Dark Descent, take a look at the trailer below.

“No one can hear you scream...in space. The newly announced single-player, action-horror Aliens game from Survios, is a thrilling original storyline set between the Alien and Aliens films,” they wrote. “Stay tuned for more information on this upcoming title for the PC, console, and VR.”

Luckily for us, although the details are scarce, a few more have been revealed on developer Survios’ website. The story will apparently follow “a battle hardened veteran” who “has a vendetta against the Xenomorphs”. Excitingly, it’s also been confirmed that the game is being developed in the sparkly new Unreal Engine 5 (much like the upcoming Witcher game and the next Tomb Raider title), and if there’s anything we know about Unreal Engine 5, it’s that games made with this thing look good. So, we’re probably in for a very visually pleasing, horror-filled time.

As for Survios’ previous work, they’re no strangers to VR - they developed and published the survival title, The Walking Dead Onslaught, as well as strategy game Battlewake and multiplayer platformer Sprint Vector, all of which require players to don a headset and yeet themselves out of reality for a while. So, it seems the VR part could have a pretty big focus, and let’s face it, with PlayStation’s VR2 on the horizon, they’re really going to need some more games to sell for that - maybe this could be one of them.

That is if it actually releases on PlayStation, of course - “console” could mean anything. There’s also currently no window for when we can expect to see this one come out, but let’s face it, it’s probably a while away yet.
