Activision getting 'greedier' following Modern Warfare 2 price increase, players say

Call of Duty fans have been slating Activision for the "absurd" cost of a new cosmetic bundle in Modern Warfare II.

Call of Duty players are starting to get seriously annoyed at the cost of microtransactions included in Modern Warfare II, after it was highlighted that one new cosmetic bundle costs about £25/$30 to buy. Yikes.

Modern Warfare II wasn’t a cheap game when it launched last October, but those who want to look extra swanky in the game’s online mode (which, let’s face it, is really the only mode that everyone cares about beyond launch week) are also able to spend real money on CoD Points (CP), which can be exchanged for skins and cosmetics. This was already a point of contention within the fanbase, but as Dexerto reports, there’s been huge uproar over one new bundle which costs a whopping 3000CP to buy.

Take a look at some fancy sniping action in Modern Warfare II below.

The cosmetics in question are included in the Tracer Pack: Elementals Thunder Front bundle. Those willing to part with 3000CP can get their hands on a reactive skin and two weapon blueprints, as well as a loading screen, weapon charm, emblem and ATV skin. Considering that a Battle Pass is pretty much a third of the price at 1100CP, this is a pretty huge investment, and fans aren’t happy about it.

“Thirty bucks for a skin and a couple of charms? That f***ed. Literally costs almost half as much as the game itself,” Reddit user thefireemojiking wrote. “3000 is absurd. I hope they roll this back, but I know they won’t,” agreed Vitzel33. “We went from 2400 to 3000, Jesus[,] Activision is just getting greedier and greedier,” Tykancash92 added.

Despite the increase in cost, it was recently reported that Call of Duty’s in-game microtransaction sales have grown year-over-year, so it doesn’t seem likely that pricey skins are going to be disappearing anytime soon, whether we like them or not.
