With video gaming narratives straying closer and closer to their televisual counterparts, it's no surprise we've seen a huge number of adaptations of late.
Whether that's the Halo TV show which will soon be popped in with Xbox Game Pass, or the second Sonic The Hedgehog film which is coming in less than two weeks, video game to big screen transformations are all the rage. Now it's been announced that A Plague Tale is getting the Hollywood treatment with a new show filmed and set in its native France in the works.

Announced by French site Annocine, few details have been released about the story, however, it appears that it will start by following the story from the first game Innocence. The director has been revealed to be Mathieu Turi, who was assistant director on Inglorious Basterds and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows before moving on to direct his own films.
Advert
Despite the French origins of the game, which was developed and set in Bordeaux, the show was initially planned to be filmed in the States. However, Fabrice Renault, a head at Merlin Productions, who is in charge of producing the TV show, says that he trusts the series will be better off in French hands.
As translated by GAMINGbible, Renault says:
"It is imperative for me that the production reflects the talent and expertise we have in France. A Plague Tale was created by Asobo in Bordeaux and was produced by a company in Paris. The creators had the opportunity to sell the adaptation to the United States, but they wanted to keep it French: I give them my complete confidence."
Looks like we'll be getting an authentically French experience. No dancing Bioshock baguette boys in this series.
