007 First Light Has 'Worrying' Detail as Fresh Gameplay Footage Released

Hopefully this can be fixed before it releases

Last night saw PlayStation share our first look at some 007 First Light gameplay in just under 40-minutes of incredible-looking footage.

Although the upcoming action-adventure game inspired by none other than James Bond himself looked shiny on the surface, the deeper fans looked, the more concerns they developed.

Sony’s 007 First Light State of Play event gave us our first deep dive into the gameplay we can expect from IO Interactive’s highly-anticipated game.

Set to be released some time in 2026, this game will not just appeal to James Bond fans but fans of high-octane action games in general and so this State of Play event was a must-watch.

Featuring everything from high-speed car chases to on-foot stealth sequences and shootouts, it is clear that 007 First Light will be everything we asked for and more.

However, some eagle-eyed fans over on Twitter soon drew attention to some areas of concern during the gameplay deep dive.

For user NikTek, they shared two videos which each showcased some of the performance issues which cropped up: one where Bond is driving and the other whilst he is engaging in a shootout in a falling plane.

“Honestly the performance here looks extremely rough,” they shared.

“Thankfully the game isn't out in this state which leaves a lot of room for improvement, hopefully the devs can sort it out by the time the game comes out.”

They continued, “Conceptually 007 First Light looks fantastic, but damn does it need more time to fix this performance.

This footage is well below 25FPS and the motion blur is downright distracting.”

As mentioned by the user themselves, 007 First Light is still quite some time away from release and so these areas can always be fine tuned.

However, NikTek was not the only potential fan with some concerns.

“007 First Light looks great, but they probably should have done a second take at trying to capture gameplay,” user Cade Onder shared.

“The person is blatantly missing shots lmao.”

Listen, some of us are just rubbish at aiming but you would expect the gameplay trailer to at least clip the good bits.

Either way, it seems as though hype for 007 First Light continues to grow despite some minor concerns.

After all, our very own Kate Harrold said she was “fond, quite fond” of the game during her preview.

“It’s still very early days for 007 First Light; I don’t want to reach an assessment before getting my hands on the title, but I find myself hard-pressed to come to any other conclusion than this is exactly the experience we’re all hoping it will be.”
